Dress for Success Central Alberta Launches New Workshop Series

RED DEER, Alberta, January 16, 2024 — Dress for Success Central Alberta, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering women to achieve economic independence, is proud to launch a new workshop series designed to assist local woman. Made possible with a donation by the Scotia Wealth Management Share the Wealth Program, this three part series will be provided free of charge and will focus on increasing financial literacy and education.

“We realize there is a need in our community to provide free, practical knowledge to women to help increase financial literacy. At Dress for Success Central Alberta we are firm believers that increased knowledge empowers women to take control of their finances, make more informed decisions and better navigate challenges that arise,” shared Erin Forbes, Executive Director at Dress for Success Central Alberta.

Rachel Collin, an investment associate with The Zukiwsky Group at Scotia Wealth Management, was nominated by her coworkers for the Share the Wealth Program. “I am a passionate ambassador for Dress for Success and a proud member of their Board of Directors. Choosing Dress for Success Central Alberta as my charity of choice to receive the Share the Wealth funds was a clear choice. I am so proud to see Dress for Success Central Alberta further their work to empower women to achieve economic independence through this valuable workshop series using the funds provided by Share the Wealth program.”

“We opened registration up to not only our clients but also referral partner agencies and our entire community,” said Forbes. “This workshop series is a great way to create community and space for women to learn as well as ask questions and receive support. It gives local women an opportunity to hear from leaders in their fields, reflect on how the topic applies to them and take the next steps towards reaching their goals.”

The first workshop, Financial Basics & Budgeting, is January 30, 2024 at 6:30pm at Dress for Success Central Alberta. The workshop will provide attendees with tangible and beneficial tools and systems for budgeting and improving quality of life, regardless of their financial starting point.

The second workshop, on February 27, 2024, will focus on income tax preparation with the March workshop set to provide resources on exploring post secondary education as a mature student. There is no cost to attend the workshops and pre-registration is required.
